Media Statement: Churchill River Clean-up Complete
November 1st, 2019
On Tuesday, October 29, Nalcor Energy Churchill Falls confirmed a release of 39 litres of Luminol into the Churchill River. Since the activation of the response team and completion of the clean-up, the volume spilled was determined to be approximately 390 litres. Environment Canada and Service NL have been notified of this change. The change in volume does not require any additional action to be taken as Nalcor Energy Churchill Falls had already activated a full response procedure. Luminol is a biodegradable product and it does not pose a risk to the river or wildlife. We can confirm that the clean-up has been completed.
