At Nalcor, we recognize that community involvement isn’t merely about sponsoring an event or signing a cheque. That’s why we work very hard to establish and build long-term partnerships with organizations doing work we believe in.
Nalcor Energy is a principal corporate supporter of the Resource Centre for the Arts (RCA), a thirty-year-old artist-run organization dedicated to the development, promotion and presentation of indigenous Newfoundland and Labrador art and artists. It makes its home in the historic L.S.P.U. (Longshoremen's Protective Union) Hall in the heart of the province's capital city, St. John's.
RCA provides an important role in the community by supporting emerging artists in the province, providing valuable employment for artists and cultural professionals, as well as a offering a mentorship venue for emerging artists.
Junior Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador
Nalcor is leading the way in the energy sector and working to create a prosperous future for our youth. Our partnership with Junior Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador (JA) is a way for us to connect with a like-minded organization and support young people in the province. JA inspires future leaders by educating young Canadians about free enterprise, business and economics, while also helping them develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills.
"I am very excited about Junior Achievement's new partnership with Nalcor Energy," said Sandra Patterson, President & CEO of JA Newfoundland and Labrador. "Without partners like Nalcor Energy who share our vision of wanting to prepare young people for future success, we could not do what we do.
Not only does Nalcor provide financial support, it also provides opportunities for its employees to become mentors by delivering Junior Achievement programs to students throughout our province. These mentors will bring real-world knowledge of financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship to the classroom - the educational pillars of JA programs."
Nalcor is a gold sponsor this year of the JA Newfoundland and Labrador Business Hall of Fame. This event was established by Junior Achievement of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1990 to honor individuals who have significantly contributed to the growth and development of enterprise in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Business Hall of Fame is a signature fundraising campaign for Junior Achievement, contributing to the continuation of business education programs in the province.
